What kind of person tries to get rich off someone else’s tragedy?
Catherine L. Crump, 57, of Illinois has filed for a trademark to use the now infamous phrase “I can’t breathe” on “clothing, namely hoodies, T-shirts for men, women, boys, girls and infants.”
As you’ll recall, those were the last words spoken by Eric Garner after he was placed in a chokehold by NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo.
Although Crump claims she isn’t trying to make money off the clothing, she did not give another reason for filing the $325 petition, according to The Smoking Gun.
To make matters worse, Crump admits she has no affiliation with Garner’s family.
Sooo … if not to make a profit, then why are you doing this, ma’am? And will the family receive a portion of the proceeds … or at least some kind of charitable organization?
Because reaping financial benefit from a family’s suffering just seems all sorts of wrong. Actually, it’s sickening.
