A Baltimore woman was arrested after throwing water on city Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake.
The incident occurred as the mayor greeted residents at a local festival on Saturday.
37-year-old Lacheisa Pailin-Sheffer is accused of running up to Rawlings-Blake and pouring a large cup of liquid on the mayor’s head, according to WBAL 11.
Pailin-Sheffer was charged with second-degree assault.
“I didn’t know what it was that she threw at me,” Rawlings-Blake told the Baltimore Sun. “I hope it was water. It was more shocking than anything else.”
Mayor Rawlings-Blake did not let the incident interrupt her participation in Baltimore’s Mondawmin Festival, an all-day event with food, music and representatives from city agencies.
The event is held outside at the mall where protests and rioting in response to the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray while in police custody took place about two months ago.
