A patient infected with the Ebola virus in Africa is expected to be transported to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta in the coming days, according to the Washinton Post.

The unidentified patient will be treated in a “specially built isolation unit” set up in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to treat people exposed to serious infectious diseases like Ebola.

CNN reported that a plane left Cartersville, Ga., Thursday evening to evacuate two U.S. charity workers in Liberia infected with the “tragic, dreadful and merciless” virus.

The patient was put in a specially equipped jet built by the CDC called an Aeromedical Biological Containment System and was sealed off from the pilots and everyone else on the aircraft.

The patient was also evaluated and stabilized before the flight, the CDC said in statement.

There is no known cure for Ebola.
