Chicago police charged two suspects involved in the shooting death of high schooler Terrence Wright, according to News One. The 18-year-old was shot in front of Banner Academy South High School.
Wright transferred to the private school — located in the Far South Side Jeffery Manor neighborhood of Chicago — after being bullied at his previous school; he was openly gay.
According to Hip-Hop Wired, Wright’s uncle, Twyan Bouldin, said: “For them to say it was a robbery is foolishness because like I said what are they going to rob him of? School supplies or books? His shoes or his clothes. He don’t wear stuff like that. So what was the point?”
The Chicago Tribune reported that Andrew Conklin, a spokesman for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office, said 16-year-old Jarone Carter “has been is charged as an adult with first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.”
The second suspect, a 14-year-old, has also been charged; his identity was concealed because of his age.
