Two prisoners escaped Tuesday morning from the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal jail in Chicago’s Loop, reports NBC Chicago.
Police confirmed that the men likely escaped the facility, at 71 W. Van Buren St., between 5 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. They were last checked on in their cell at 5 a.m.
The escapees are 37-year-old Jose Banks and 38-year-old Kenneth Conley, both convicted robbers believed to be traveling together. They were reportedly last seen Tuesday morning in the Tinley Park area.
Authorities believe the men escaped out a window using what one officer described as a rope made out of bedsheets.
FBI officials said Banks and Conley should be considered armed and dangerous. State, local and federal officials are searching for them.
Anyone who sees them is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI at 312-421-6700.
