Donald Trump and Ben Carson are leading national polls in the race to represent the GOP in the 2016 presidential election.
Neither Trump or Carson are professional politicians.
Both candidates have explained previous ties to more liberal stances. Trump, a former supporter of abortion and Carson’s outright admission that he was once a “pretty left-wing Democrat,” laid most of their “transgressions” out in the open.
It was a smart move for both candidates, as their liberal past would certainly doom any other presidential hopeful.
The latest poll of GOP voters in Iowa released this week, shows Trump and Carson tied at 23 percent. Carly Fiorina, a former businesswoman, came in third in favorability, garnering 10 percent of votes.
Trump and Carson also led the latest two national polls of the GOP nominating race.
