Another young, unarmed Black man has become a hashtag.
WWJ Detroit reports that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed 20-year-old, Terrence Kellom on the city’s northwest side.
The shooting came hours after the funeral for Freddie Gray, the Baltimore man who died due to a severe spinal injury while in police custody on April 12.
Police Chief James Craig explained that the officers were allowed into the Detroit residence, where an ICE officer attempted to serve a warrant to Kellom for unarmed robbery before the deadly shooting occurred.
The Chief alleges that the officer may have been faced with a threat which led to deadly force being used.
Now, there is no word on the alleged threat that was posed to the agent. However, the result according to family members, was Terrence being shot 10 times.
One woman’s description of the scene:
“It was 10 bullets…and did it take 10 bullets? When he came out, they didn’t have the handcuffs on him! They shot him! He was not able to run to do nothin’. Y’all didn’t give him a chance!”
Names have not been released but there were other people in the home including members of the task force at the time of the violent encounter.
Witnesses are being interviewed and an investigation into the deadly shooting will be underway.
Terrence was a father of one and expecting his second child.

Kellom’s family is asking for people to join them for a press conference at Central Baptist Church on Detroit’s West Side, at 4:30 pm.
Members of law enforcement need to learn how to restrain a suspect without taking his/her life. This is too much. #PrayersUp Hopefully change will come.
