It’s Taken 10 Weeks For President Trump to Spend More on Travel Than Obama Did In Two Years

It may seem like it’s been longer, but President Trump has only been in office for about 3 1/2 months. In just 10 weeks, he’s spent seven weekends away from the White House at this Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

His constant travel is costing taxpayers $24 million, is the amount President Obama spent on travel in two years.

Every trip to Mar-a-Lago totals at $3 million to cover the President’s security detail. President Obama’s travel bill came to $97 million during his eight-year presidency.

Because this new administration is planning to cut funding to government departments by $597 million, Trump’s critics feel he should cut down on his travel because then there would be more money for social security and arts programs.

For the past few weeks, Trump’s old tweets about what he would do if he were in the White House have come back to haunt him.

In 2016, he was criticizing President Obama for playing golf.

“While our wonderful president was out playing golf all day, the TSA is falling apart, just like our government! Airports a total disaster!”

he tweeted in May of last year.

And then at a campaign rally last year, the President criticized President Obama again by saying he were President, he would probably never play golf again.

“You know what – and I love golf – but if I were in the White House, I don’t think I’d ever see Turnberry again, I don’t think I’d ever see Doral again, I own Doral in Miami, I don’t think I’d ever see many of the places that I have. “I don’t ever think that I’d see anything, I just wanna stay in the White House and work my ass off, make great deals, right? Who’s gonna leave? I mean, who’s gonna leave?”

We see how that has turned out.
