Stephen and Seth Curry will make NBA history as the first brothers to compete against each other in the league’s conference finals. While the sibling rivalry is set to heat up on the court, their parents, Dell and Sonya, came up with a foolproof plan to ensure that both of their children are supported.
Rachel Nichols, host of ESPN’s The Jump, caught up with the proud parents, who announced their decision to use probability to decide which son to root for. “Sonya & Dell Curry told me their plan is to literally flip a coin to split which kid to root for/which parent wears which team’s gear,” she tweeted.

According to the Associate Press (AP), the parents claimed wearing a split Golden State Warriors and Portland Trailblazers jersey would be “too easy.”
The duo explained how their coin toss will work. “If Sonya flips heads, she’ll wear Blazers attire to support Seth, while Dell wears Stephen’s Warriors colors. If the coin lands on tails, she’ll dress in Warriors clothing while Dell dons Blazers gear,” the AP reports.
The coin toss will take place every game until the best-of-seven-series comes to an end.
“Well, we have to flip to see who flips first,” Dell said. “There’s going to be a lot of coin flipping going on.”
Game 1 of the western conference finals begins Tuesday, May 14 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
