WATCH: Misty Copeland’s Under Armour Ad

Under Armor announced Thursday the addition of American Ballet Theatre® soloist Misty Copeland to its elite talent roster.

Remember that time Misty Copeland did something that wasn’t breathtaking?

Neither do we.

As a part of their new $15 million marketing campaign, Under Armour cast the ballerina as the leading lady in their latest TV ad.

Copeland, the first African-American soloist for the American Ballet Theatre in 20 years, begins the ad by balancing en pointe while a voice-over reads a letter telling a 13-year-old girl that she has been rejected from a ballet academy.

“You lack the right feet, achilles tendons…and bust,” the voice-over states. “You have the wrong body for ballet.”

Afterwards, Copeland, who started ballet at the age of 13 herself, delivers an intense and phenomenal solo routine, completely overthrowing the letter’s sentiments.

The ad ends with the award-winning dancer looking straight into the camera, followed by the Under Armour logo partnered with the phrase “I WILL WHAT I WANT.”

Some say the ad proves that dance is a real sport. Others argue that it shows clear support for the feminist movement. But one thing is for sure: It is truly remarkable.
