The Chicago Bears have fired long time head coach Lovie Smith, after eight seasons reports ESPN.com. This move follows another mediocre season (2012-2013) by the Bears where they finished 10-6 and lost playoff hopes following the Minnesota Viking victory over the Green Bay Packers.

Sources say that Bears management grew tired of the team’s inconsistency, in terms of offensive production, continued losses suffered during December, and the fact that they beat their long-time rival, Green Bay. Head coach firings have been happening across the NFL with teams like Philadelphia and Kansas City respectively letting go of long-standing head coaches.

Lovie finishes with a combined record of 84-66.
