The NBA has scheduled the preseason game for 2015 to take place in South Africa, the first U.S. professional sports organization to hold a game in Africa.
NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum, who made the announcement, is currently in Johannesburg where the NBA is holding a Basketball without Borders camp.
“The involvement of our players in growing the game internationally and on a global basis is critical and it’s important,” Tatum told Black Enterprise. “I think that our players understand that and I think that the basketball community understands that.”
All proceeds of the game will go to charity.
