Derrick Rose makes a true impact on and off the court. The Chicago Bulls point guard recently made a $1 million donation to After School Matters, a prominent arts and education-based program designed for teens in Chicago.
The not-for-profit organization was founded by the late Maggie Daley, who was Chicago’s first lady for 22 years.
Not one to stray away from his Englewood upbringing and those who have helped him along the way, Rose stated in a press release: “To have a strong community of people who believe in your potential can make all the difference in the world. So many people have invested in me and I want to do the same for Chicago’s teens.”
To see a kind act of humanity from the likes of someone like Rose, who even in his career journey has encountered his share of setbacks via knee injuries and surgery, sheds lights and hope that despite daily surroundings there are people who really care and differences can be made.
