Trayvon Martin should have turned 19 today, February 5.
However, family members, friends and community activists are remembering the teen, who was killed two years ago, with two special events this weekend.
On Saturday, February 8, there will be a Peace Walk in honor of the slain teen. The 1.1-mile walk, presented by the Trayvon Martin Foundation, will begin at 9 a.m. at Carol City Park and end at The Betty T. Ferguson Center in Miami Gardens, Florida. The community event will feature free food, entertainment and motivational speakers. Click HERE to register.
A Remembrance Dinner presented by Trayvon’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, will take place on Sunday, February 9 at 5 p.m. at Signature Grand in Davie, Florida. Honorees include Jamie Foxx, Michael Baisden and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson. Tickets are $75 for foundation friends and $150 for foundation builders.
