Feds Look into James Meredith Statue Vandalism
Why anyone would vandalize a statue of Civil Rights leader James Meredith is beyond us; however, we are happy to hear the incident is now under federal investigation as a hate crime. Two men are suspected of placing a noose around the neck of the statue and draping a Confederate flag over it as well, according to ClarionLedger.com. The incident reportedly took place early Sunday morning.

Macy Gray, Ernie Hudson to Star in Lifetime Original Movie
Singer Macy Gracy and veteran actor Ernie Hudson are set to star in The Grim Sleeper, a Lifetime original movie premiering Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m. ET. The movie centers around an Los Angeles-based journalist who exposes a serial killer and discovers a community’s dark secrets.
Soldier Suspended for Posting Funeral Picture
Spc. Terry Harrison, a member of the National Guard in Wisconsin, reportedly posted a picture to Instagram of her and fellow soldiers goofing around an empty casket draped in an American flag with the caption: “We put the FUN in funeral.” Harrison has been suspended “pending the outcome of the investigation,” according to a Guard spokesman.
Update in Case of Dead Texas Man
The Department of Justice has taken over the investigation of Alfred Wright’s mysterious death. The brother of former American Idol contest Savion Wright was found dead (with some of his teeth and his tongue missing) after he went missing late last year. While an autopsy declared Alfred died due to a drug overdose, his family and friends maintain the young man did not do drugs. Sources believe Alfred’s death may have been racially motivated because he was rumored to be in a relationship with a White woman.
The former Laker player and reality TV star has reportedly signed a two-month contract with Spanish club Laboral Kutxa. He could make his overseas debut as early as this Saturday, according to ESPN.
