Jury Continues Deliberations in Michael Dunn Trial
Jurors have resumed deciding the fate of a Florida man charged with fatally shooting a teen after an argument over loud music. The 12 jurors in the trial of Michael Dunn resumed work Friday, their third day of deliberations. Dunn is charged with first-degree murder for fatally shooting 17-year-old Jordan Davis outside a Jacksonville convenience store in 2012.
Ex-NFL Star Darren Sharper Charged with Rape
Prosecutors say former NFL safety Darren Sharper, who has been charged with raping and drugging women in California, is under investigation in connection with five more rapes and 11 druggings in other states. Sharper appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday but his arraignment was postponed until Feb. 20 at the request of his lawyers. Prosecutors immediately filed a motion to raise his bail to $10 million and outlined details of other alleged assaults and druggings in Las Vegas, Tempe, Ariz., and New Orleans.
De La Soul Releases Entire Catalog for Free
That’s right, music fans. De La Soul, one of the most notable hip-hop groups of our generation, is releasing their entire catalog for FREE starting today at 11 a.m. Eastern time. The music is available to download on their website until Saturday at noon. Next month is the 25th anniversary of the group’s debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising.
Malcolm X’s Family Speaks on Nicki Minaj Cover
The family of Civil Rights leader Malcolm X describes the artwork for Nicki Minaj’s new song “disrespectful and offensive.” His daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, told the Associated Press the picture is not endorsed by the family. “Ms. Minaj’s artwork for her single does not depict the truth of Malcolm X’s legacy,” Shabazz’s statement said.
