1.  No Country for Old Men?
Dr. Boyce Watkins SNAPS on Jay-Z for what he sees as disrespectful lyrics aimed at Harry Belafonte in Magna Carta Holy Grail.  Is Hova dead wrong or did Belafonte start this multi-generational beef?

2.  King Me
The youngest son of Coretta Scott King and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. jumped the broom.

3. Happy Birthday, Mandela!

Nelson Mandela appears to be making “dramatic progress” and may be able to go home soon, according to his daughter. The iconic South African leader, who celebrates his 95th birthday tomorrow, has been hospitalized since June 8.

4. Flyy on the Wall

Get out your jelly shoes.  The popular Omar Tyree title, Flyy Girl, has just been acquired by Codeblack Films. The books cover the coming-of age-story of a young girl in the ’80s.

5. Justice for Darius

More somber headlines: Just as 17-year-old Jordan Davis’s murder case is underway, opening statements for 13-year-old Darius Simmons’s have begun as well. Simmons was fatally shot, allegedly by his 76-year-old White neighbor, John Spooner who claimed he thought the tween had stolen from him.   Warning, graphic imagery/footage in the link above, so brace yourself.

6.  Rush Limbaugh

The controversial radio show host has decided that he can now say the n-word, as long as he pronounces it with a “ga” at the end.  Um….good luck with that.   He might want to ask Paula Deen and Michael Richards how that term worked for them.
