Most Americans are not in favor of a U.S. strike on Syria, according to a recent Associated Press poll. President Barack Obama announced the campaign in response to chemical weapons use in Syria.
The AP poll also said the majority of people surveyed believed “even limited U.S. attacks … would lead to a long-term commitment of military forces in Syria.” Additionally, “only 20 percent of Americans thought U.S. military action in Syria would deter other rogue nations from using their own weapons of mass destruction in the future.”
Obama is expected to address the nation on Tuesday regarding a strike against Syria. Since announcing his plan, the president has refused to acknowledge what he would do if Congress does not approve of his resolution.
