Can you believe Paula Deen is back in the hot seat? The once-respected chef is catching heat for a tweet that featured her son in brownface.
(Face palms)
In the post that has since been deleted, Deen, her son Bobby and one of her producers are photographed as they imitate the characters from the classic sitcom I Love Lucy.
The cook portrays Lucy, while Bobby is dressed as Ricky Ricardo in brownface.
In a statement released to NBC News, representatives from the 68-year-old’s camp claim the picture is from a 2011 Halloween party.
The note also stated, “Paula Deen’s Social Media Manager posted a picture this morning of Paula and Bobby Deen dressed in costume…Paula immediately had this picture taken down as soon as she saw the post and apologizes to all who were offended. As such, Paula Deen Ventures has terminated their relationship with this Social Media Manager.”
The former TV host was in the midst of scandal two years ago when she admitted to using racial slurs including using the n-word. She lost her show on the Food Network and a ton of endorsement deals as a result.
She has since attempted to win back the heart of audiences with her new show on Evine Live, but this latest incident could be a setback.
