Sure, we’d all like to think we’ve moved well past segregation in 2013, but it doesn’t sound like that’s the case, according to a new Reuters poll.
The ongoing poll reveals that “about 40 percent of white Americans and about 25 percent of non-white Americans are surrounded exclusively by friends of their own race.”
So what does that mean? It means we, as a society, are not “playing well” with others. There is hope, however, in the younger generation.
The poll goes on to say “About one third of Americans under the age of 30 who have a partner or spouse are in a relationship with someone of a different race, compared to one tenth of Americans over 30.”
