On Monday, two suspects were arrested and charged for allegedly killing a Linden, New Jersey woman who had went missing in March.
Authorities say that Andre Harris, 32, and Jennifer Sweeney, 33, killed 41-year-old Tyrita Julius and hid her body. Sweeney, who was friends with Julius, told prosecutors that she had dropped her off at Long Beach train station, but both Monmouth and Union County prosecutors discovered that she was lying.
In November 2015, four months prior to Julius’ death, both Sweeney and Harris reportedly tried to murder her by shooting her eight times in the torso. Many of the bullets grazed Julius’ 15-year-old daughter, reports say. Police found them in a Toyota Camry that crashed into a utility pole on November 24th, 2015.
For that incident, the pair was charged with one count of conspiracy and two counts of second-degree murder.
Apparently, Julius maintained her friendship with Sweeney after she tried to kill her in 2015 and spent her final day with her in the area of Tinton Falls and Long Branch.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni noted that investigators recovered her body in a shallow grave in Harris’ backyard on August 16th.
“In a nutshell, our investigation revealed that Sweeney and Harris murdered Tyrita in the area of Long Branch, New Jersey and buried her body in the backyard at 228 Joline Ave. This was known to be Harris’ residence,” Gramiccioni said.
