The Black Unemployment Rate is 13 percent compared to 7.3 percent for the entire nation and 6.4 percent for Whites. Black women in particular are having a harder time finding jobs as Black men’s unemployment rates have dropped but black women’s remain steady. Black women who do find work are paid about 91 cents for every dollar earned by Black men. Their weekly pay of $595 is approximately 85 percent of the average salary of White women, according to a report by the National Women’s Law Center
