The Ku Klux Klan’s Imperial Wizard has endorsed Donald Trump.
The leader, only identified as the “Imperial Wizard,” told WWBT 12 that the reason he and other Klan members endorsed Trump is “because a lot of what he believes in, we believe in. We want our country to be safe.”
The man said his hate group is also backing Trump because they stand behind his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the country.
“If Donald Trump dropped out tomorrow I would support Kasich before I would Ted Cruz because he is not an American citizen,” he said. “Even if I agree with some of the things that Ted Cruz says, I would not support him because he was born in Canada. He is not an American citizen.”
Previously, Trump racked up criticism when he did not immediately reject the hate group’s endorsement. KKK Grand Wizard David Duke publicly backed him last August.
