Hadiya Pendleton, the 15-year-old who was killed in Chicago a few days after performing at Obama’s inauguration, spoke out against gang violence when she was alive.
In the sixth grade, Pendleton was in a PSA against gang violence, which has recently surfaced online.
The program that helped Hadiya produce the PSA released a statement saying:
Hadiya shined her light on us here at the Digital Youth Network as a student, a learner and a creative voice.… Hadiya and her peers produced this PSA as a part of a project that sought to counter violence through youth produced media.
This story keeps getting more tragic and Hadiya’s killer has yet to be found.
