Fox News personality Geraldo Rivera quit his job at Yale University after the school announced the removal of the name of a pro-slavery lawmaker from one of its colleges.
The Hill reports the school plans to rename Calhoun College, which was named after John C. Calhoun, a 19th-century slavery supporter and White supremacist from South Carolina. Calhoun attended Yale and was the seventh vice-president of the United States.
The school will now be named after Grace Murray Hopper, an alum of the school and renowned computer scientist and Navy rear admiral.
Rivera announced his decision to step down from his position Sunday via Twitter.
Resigned yeterday as Associate Fellow of #CalhounCollege at #Yale. Been an honor but intolerant insistence on political correctness is lame.

Slavery was abhorrent sin. Will #Yale students now petition to change name of #USA capital? #Washington was a slave holder as was #Jefferson

To judge a 200 yr old early 19th century historic figure by standards of the 21st century as #Yale is doing is more Orwellian than inspired

According to the Washington Post article, nearly 200 buildings housed on educational grounds are named after White supremacists.
