The Chicago community is mourning the loss of city activist Leonore Draper.
Draper, 32, was killed after attending A Charitable Confection, a fundraiser for the youth anti-violence organization Project Orange Tree.
According to the Associated Press, Draper was shot “in the arm and chest inside a car in the West Pullman neighborhood on Friday night.” She was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
Draper’s brother, Adrian Murrow, told the Chicago Sun-Times: “She wasn’t the type of person that would ever try to mess you up ever. She was always trying to put a smile on your face.”
Chicago Public Schools spokesman Joel Hood confirmed Draper was a budget analyst for the school system.
Draper was one of four people killed in the city since Friday. At least 35 others were wounded in shootings.
