A Brooklyn man who was convicted of sex trafficking told a Brooklyn federal courtroom that he perceived himself as a “two-bit pimp,” not a monster, the New York Daily News reported.
On Monday, Alvaun Thompson received a 30-year jail sentence for prostituting underage girls in different parts of Brooklyn. During the sentencing, sources say Thompson showed no remorse for his crimes and even told Judge Leo Glasser that he didn’t view the young girls he pimped out as teenagers, victims or prostitutes.
“They was my family and they was my friends. Family and friends hustle where I come from,” Thompson proclaimed in court.
Thompson, who was convicted last November, is accused of transporting prostitutes to Maryland and Pennsylvania to turn tricks. The 30-year-old was also charged with possession of child pornography. His cell phone contained several videos of him engaging in sexual intercourse with minors.
Thompson referred to his group of prostitutes as Team L.P., which stood for “Love Pimpin.” He even branded the victim with tattoos; “Alvaun” on one victim’s breasts, “Love Pimpin” on another’s hip and “L.P.” near the eye of one victim. According to court documents, he impregnated two underage girls, nicknamed “Kandii” and “Chocolate.”
Authorities say that one of his victims was arrested on her 14th birthday for soliciting an undercover cop and Thompson busted the lip of another 15-year-old while she was pregnant with his child.
During his rant in court, federal defenders tried their best to get him to keep quiet, but Thompson failed to contain himself.
“I’m a two-bit pimp. But it don’t give anybody a right to stereotype me…If I’m the monster that Mr. Jacobs described, I deserve life. I deserved the penalty,” he stated.
Prosecutors argued for the judge to take into consideration that Thompson allegedly murdered another pimp in an altercation, although he wasn’t charged with the 2013 crime.
“Mr. Thompson is a danger to the community and should be sentenced severely,”Judge Glasser concluded.
