Nasean Bonie, a former Bronx superintendent, faces up to 25 years in jail for manslaughter in the death of a tenant over a rent dispute.
It took the jury two days to find Bonie guilty of killing Ramona Moore, whose body was found three years after she disappeared in July 2012.
During the month-long jury trial prosecutors interviewed more than 20 witnesses, including a neighbor who said she saw Bonie lug a garbage pail into the trunk of his car the night Moore vanished, the New York Daily News reported.
Prosecutors say cellphone records show that Bonie placed a call that night in Orange County, near where Moore’s body was found. The area was also not too far from where his relatives were located, and neighbors even testified that the two had been fighting over rent outside of their 663 Jefferson Place building in Clearmont.
Moore’s relatives, who never doubted Bonie’s guilt, were satisfied with the verdict.
“I’m so glad that this is over and done with. Wholeheartedly I think he did this. Why he did this, I don’t know. I will never have that answer. But he’s getting just what he deserves.” Moore’s sister Nicole said.
Moore leaves behind four children.
Bonie’s sentencing date is set for August 11th.
