Barbie has a new friend, and this one comes with gold medals! Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas recently partnered with Mattel for her own Barbie doll.
This latest venture for Douglas was announced on Instagram with Mattel referring to Douglas as a “shero, a female hero inspiring girls by breaking boundaries and expanding possibilities for women everywhere.”
Douglas’ Barbie bares a striking resemblance to her. There’s the smile, the dimples and the stylish leotard/tracksuit combo.
The gymnast posed alongside her doll and on her Twitter account, said she was “excited to inspire girls to play out their own dreams.”

It goes without saying Douglas is an inspiration for many young girls. She became the first Black female U.S. gymnast in Olympic history to win gold medals in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics.
Douglas came into national stardom as a member of the Fierce Five U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2012 Summer Olympics and also competed with the Final Five at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Her doll is currently on sale on the Barbie Collection site retailing for $24.95 and will include free shipping for a limited time.
