Erotica novelist Zane has been labeled Maryland’s top individual “tax cheat.”
The Prince George’s County writer, whose real name is Kristina Laferne Roberts, owes the IRS nearly $541,000, according to the Washington Post.
Roberts, who is famous for her steamy stories and the publisher of Strebor Books, also owes Maryland $341,000, says state comptroller Peter Franchot. According to the state comptroller’s office, officials there have been trying to collect money from Roberts since 2003. Last week, the office named Roberts, along with 24 other individuals, “in an effort to shame them into paying.”
