Amazon is reportedly conducting digital 3D scans of people’s bodies in exchange for a $25 Amazon gift card.
A staff member at Mashable received an advertisement on Instagram that led to an online form, where participants were given more information.
According to the form, study participants would pose both fully clothed and in form-fitting swimwear while the scan takes 3D pictures and video scans for 30 minutes.
The company said the scan data would be used “exclusively for internal product research” and would not be used in a marketing capacity.
Participants are required to sign nondisclosure agreements, which require them to keep information experienced or learned during the study confidential.
Amazon began body-scanning research in 2017 after acquiring 3D imaging company Body Labs.
