Rapper 2 Chainz has teamed up with the Respect My Vote! Campaign (the same campaign that brought us Diddy’s “Vote or Die”) to educate ex-felons on how to get back their right to vote.

2 Chainz admits becoming a felon at only 15 years old and thinking it was too late for him to regain his right and register to vote. However, he learned he was able to after meeting a woman registering people to vote in a mall during the last presidential election.

“I realized that you can vote again once you’re a felon,” he says in the following video.

He goes on to say that he’s comfortable and confident in Barack Obama as a President, but that it’s only his opinion. His goal in partnering with this campaign is to use his platform to get other ex-felons to express their own opinions.

“I feel like when I talk, sometimes people will listen.”
