Hate it or love it, 10 years after its debut, the XXL Freshman Class cover reveal remains one of Rap Twitter’s favorite annual debates. After months of speculation, the hip-hop publication finally unveiled the cover for its 10th annual XXL Freshman Class issue. Wanna fight about it?
From The Bronx to The Bay, the the XXL Freshman Class of 2017 is a geographically diverse bunch. This year’s list of inductees features A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, PnB Rock, Playboi Carti, KYLE, Kap G, MadeinTYO, Kamaiyah, Aminé, Ugly God and XXXTentacion, who was voted into the final spot by the fans.
Over the course of the next month, the XXL will be releasing content from the 10 members of 2017’s Freshman class both individually and as a collective. Expect plenty of freestyles, interviews and of course cyphers coming soon.
As per usual, the annual XXL Freshman Class concert will once again be taking place on both costs this year. The New York City show will go down on Wednesday, June 28 at the Playstation Theater. Meanwhile, rap fans across the country will see XXL’s “Generation Next” emcees touch the stage on Wednesday, July 14 at The Novo.
In addition to features with each of the 2017 freshman, the 10th anniversary XXL Freshman Class issue will feature reflections from past honorees. In total, the new issue will include 34 former freshman sharing how the experience has benefitted their careers.
