Enlisting the help of BJ The Chicago Kid, Goapele comes through with the enchanting “Stay,” the fourth single off of her upcoming EP, Dreamseeker.
Produced by Cornelio Austin, the track serves as a love letter, filled to the brim with passion, purpose and a deep yearning that’s found only in hearts intertwined. It becomes a conversation of sorts, with Goapele providing the opener and BJ soon chiming in, beckoning their lover of choice to be with them forever.
“’Stay’ is a relationship song on how to love hard,” she said to BET.com. “I wanted to record something sexy and classic that you can play at a first dance, at a wedding or vibe to at a strip club. I felt BJ was the perfect fit for this 808 ballad.”
A follow up to “Power,” and “Secret,” “Stay” aligns with the theme of her EP, which “addresses self-love, social consciousness, sensuality and motherhood.” Goapele kicked off her “Dreamseeker Tour” in support of the project this April and is set to close out in her hometown of Oakland, CA May 18 – 21.
