The late, great ODB once proclaimed: Wu-Tang is for the children.
Apparently, these days, the legendary super-group is for the 1 percent.
Though we applaud the Shaolin soldiers for going the opposite way of today’s free-ninety nine, surprise album releases, we are more than a little jealous that one lucky bidder could get to own the super secret and sole copy of “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin” album they will unleash after exhibiting it worldwide.
That envy reached a peak today when we learned that there is already interest, according to RZA who told Billboard:
“Offers came in at $2 million, somebody offered $5 million yesterday. “I’ve been getting a lot of emails: some from people I know, some from people I don’t know, and they’re also emailing other members of my organization.
Well, if the eventual purchaser doesn’t turn around and put it out for the masses, maybe they’ll let us borrow the one copy if we ask really really nicely.
YOUR TURN: What do you think of the Wu’s one-copy strategy? Is this pure genius or just a source of fan frustration?
