If it aint Ja Rule and Ashanti we don’t want it.
After The Bad Boy Family Reunion concert last year and The Ruff Ryders and Friends Reunion show last month, a Murder Inc. revival show could be the icing on the cake, but a relaunch? We need more convincing.
Irv Gotti took to Instagram yesterday to announce the rebirth of Murder Inc. Records, the label who housed the likes of Ja Rule, Ashanti, and Charli Baltimore.
“I’m about to RE LAUNCH MURDER INC RECORDS,” he shared. “I got some new artist. New music. Same fucking MOVEMENT! The Worlds Most Talented Record Label.” Eventually renamed The Inc, Irv went on to explain the forced restructure was due to legal problems.
“Everyone had a lot of fun. While I had to re group from the Feds coming after me,” he continued. “Had to plot and plan and fall back while I watched everyone else eat. I watched gracefully. I applauded and congratulated everyone who deserved it. Never one bone of hate in my body. I love to see my ni**as win and eat. BUT ITS MY TURN NOW!!”
A little background story. The fall of Murder Inc. was a result of the ill-fated feud with 50 cent and G-Unit. In 2013, Irv reflected on the collapse with promises of more glory days to come. “It wasn’t just one thing, everything came at us,” he explained. “I think we gon’ rule the world again.”
The era of Murder Inc. was a good one, filled to the rim with summer time vibes, lit hooks and love vibes (mainly from Ja Rule & Ashanti) that’ll make the thuggest of dudes two-step, but can this be duplicated? Only time will tell.
With summer time on the way, revisit Ja Rule and Ashanti’s “Mesmerize” below.
