As we approach the release of Vince Staples’ anticipated Big Fish Theory, the 23-year-old rapper has liberated another cut off his sophomore LP.
Enlisting rap crooner Ty Dolla $ign on the hook, Vince serves up another fresh slice of the afro-futurisitic sound he promised on “Rain Come Down.” Staples’ latest release follows the leak of “Big Fish,” along with single “BagBak” and the recent Tyga collaboration, “Playboy.”
Speaking with Complex in April, the Long Beach, CA native described the theme of the new album. “It encompasses things,” says Vince. “Being larger than life in a smaller world, so to say. How rappers are perceived and perceive themselves… you still find these great personalities and these great success stories within the small pond that is our music,” he explained.
Big Fish Theory features appearances by Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Bon Iver, The Gorillaz and Flume. “Rain Come Down” is available at midnight tonigh with a pre-order of the album on iTunes.
Big Fish Theory drops June 23 via Def Jam Records.
