Following yesterday’s ESPN report which claimed that NBA superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant have a secret rap song in the stash, it looks like we now have proof of the song’s existence. What kind of proof you ask? The kind that rhymes.
Late last night, an employee of Spider Studios in Ohio shared a snippet of the unreleased collab between LeBron and KD via Twitter. Though the employee claims he won’t release the full track until he gets 1 million retweets (a highly improbably goal at this point), what he shares is enough to know that two of the NBA’s best stepped in the booth and laid down some bars. What’s more, the source of the snippet supports ESPN’s report that the track was record in 2011, since Spider Studios is where James and Durant worked out together during the offseason that same year.
Though this week’s report is the first we’ve heard of the track, it isn’t the first time the song was nearly released. “I heard the track years ago during post-production for Thunderstruck, ” revealed Agent Eric Goodwin. In fact, the song almost appeared on the soundtrack for the 2012 film Thunderstruck. Recalling the secret collab, Goodwin said “It was very good. I suggested submitting it to Warner Brothers for the movie soundtrack, but KD wanted to keep it private.”

Even though they may be collaborators on the track, the two basketball superstars are still at odds come game time. The two are currently facing off in the NBA Finals for the second time in their careers. The first encounter saw Durant his former Oklahoma City Thunder squad fall to King James and the Miami Heat back in 2012. This time around KD and his Golden State Warriors look to have the upper hand as they lead the series 2-0 with Game 3 set to tip off Wednesday night.
