On Tour: Ebony Fashion Fair Inspiring Beauty

There’s a new, visually arresting tour coming soon to a venue near you.  Forgive us, as we might be biased, but we kinda think you’ll enjoy this historic “fashion show.”

For 50 years, The Ebony Fashion Fair has been responsible for fashion shows that quickly began to raise millions of dollars and aided Johnson Publishing Company in reaching a much wider audience.

In 1963, Eunice Johnson took over as a creative producer and director of the traveling shows and under her direction, she expanded her cachet and power within fashion circles, not to mention introduced the world to beautiful Black models wearing the most exquisite couture.

Inspiring Beauty: 50 Years of Ebony Fashion Fair will tour the nation and can be viewed at select museums and history centers. The exhibit recreates the experience of the Ebony Fashion Fair through the story of Mrs. Johnson by showcasing over 60 pieces of apparel.

When walking through the exhibit, you will be able to see garments designed by pivotal fashion leaders such as Yves St. Laurent, Oscar de la Renta, Pierre Cardin, Emanuel Ungaro, Christian Lacroix, and Patrick Kelly and many more.
