Despite being a model customer, Etienne Syldor, 48, almost lost his house because of a mortgage nightmare

I’ve always dreamed of owning a home and worked hard to make it happen for my family. To save up for my down payment, I worked as a Disney World bus driver seven days a week for four years. And over the past nine years, I’ve never missed a mortgage payment. In fact the bank offered me a mortgage modification as a reward for being a reliable customer.
My wife and I never asked for it, but we welcomed the chance to lower our monthly payments. We completed the four-month trial period and received a letter congratulating us on being approved for a permanent rate adjustment. We were very happy our hard work paid off.
That all changed three months later when the bank sent a notice telling us they were going to foreclose on the house…
