I truly believe that people find money for the things they want to buy and make time for the things they want to do. Especially if there’s something in it for them.
So this article is dedicated to what’s in it for you when you do therapy!
People benefit from talking to and interacting with others not only when things are going well, but also during times of stress and uncertainty. When things aren’t going so well, the best type of person to talk with is someone who is not personally invested in the outcome of your situation.
But what if you’re super busy and can’t find time to talk with a “professional talker” a.k.a. therapist? With all that you have to do between work, study, kids, friends, volunteering, it’s no wonder you can’t find time on your calendar to squeeze in an hour to productively talk to someone.
However, if you’ve been able to spend at least one hour doing any of the following within the past month, you have time to go to therapy: go to the mall, get your nails and hair done (sometimes waiting for hours), go out with friends, get ready to go out with friends, watch your favorite television show marathon, train for a marathon, or attend cooking, art, and acting classes.
Therapy has gotten a bad rap and it’s time to set the record straight. Therapy is intended to help people gain clarity, peace, and build their resiliency. So, if you would like to live a more genuine life, then you should really make time to talk with a therapist.
Below are four reasons you should commit yourself to finding a wonderful therapist and spend at least an hour a month talking about …you!
1) You are either successful or tired of being tired. The common denominator here is balance. When you are successful, you want to maintain your balance as you continue to rise. There will inevitably be bumps along the way and managing them with flow and grace is key to moving higher and higher. On the other hand, if you’re physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually tired, it is going to be difficult for you to live that full and rewarding life you’ve dreamed of. So just imagine being able to live in the present moment without regret and being prepared for what comes your way. Hey, sign me up!!!
2) Your inside doesn’t match your outside. If you are going through life smiling on the outside but feeling very different inside, then you should definitely make time to talk! The main reason is to locate the disconnection and rebuild a healthy connection so you can experience consistency and genuineness. There’s a lot of relief when your insides match your outsides. Just think about it: no jealousy, resentment, and loneliness? Yeah, those are three BIG ones!
3) Better relationships. Yes, you can learn how to improve your relationships by yourself in therapy. The focus would primarily be on identifying the types of relationships you have, seeing how they align with the types of relationships you would like, and determining what you can do to bring more of the relationships you want into your life. Finally, a chance to spend time with people you actually like – whew!
4) Become happier. A lot of happy people go to therapy because they want to continue to enjoy their life. They are able to enjoy their successes and learn from their failures in the safety of a wonderful hyper oxygenated environment. In this way, therapy feels more like a reward or treat you give yourself and can really help boost confidence, self-esteem, and love – awwww 🙂
There you have it– four reasons you want to make time for therapy! I hope you found this article helpful. With love and light, I wish you pleasant journeys!
