Your wedding day is full of emotion and it is the photographer’s responsibility to capture those sentimental moments and create memorable photos.

Here are some ideas to share with your photographer to capture the moments that will demonstrate the love on your day for generations to come:

Bridal Party

In the last hours as a single man or woman, the morning of your wedding is spent with the friends that you hold dearest. Have your photographer follow you along for your wedding day activities such as the guys playing a round of golf, basketball, or their trip to the barbershop on the morning of the wedding. If you’re having a late wedding, the girls should be able to fit in an early morning spa trip.

Parents

Moments with family is a big part of the day. One of my favorite photos is the mother of the bride placing the bride’s veil. This shot is “classic.” One of my brides had the great idea of having a first look with her father since he is an emotional daddy – this is bound to be an amazing photo.

Groom

The groom is also high on emotion on the wedding day. Help him get in touch with those emotions and display them. This may take some thought and planning, but this gesture will fill your groom’s heart and create a great moment for your wedding memories. At my wedding, the bridesmaids entered the church to Lauren Hill’s “Tell Him.”

I gave them the task of coming up with one statement to thank my groom for the change he has made in my life. He was not aware that this was going to happen. As each bridesmaid approached the altar, they whispered their statement and kissed him on the cheek. He was completely surprised and emotional…a great moment to capture and look back on for years to come.

Here are three things to remember when creating lasting moments.

1. Be organic: Don’t over plan. If you do, it will come across in the photos. Create the moments and let the photographer take it from there.

2. Keep your photographer in the loop: Be sure to let your photographer know what any special moments that you plan so that they are present to capture them.

3. Plan wisely: Keep in mind that this will most likely affect your photography budget. You will likely need more than one shooter, and may require up to 12 hours of service.
