Tell us your love story: Bride: Jimmy and I met at work. I am originally from Louisiana (a small town called Oakdale). While I was obtaining my second Master’s degree at Grambling State University, I applied for a job with the federal government. Within a month I was hired and told I would be stationed in Beaumont, Texas after I cleared the background check in 2009. Fast forward to 2012. Jimmy walked through the door as a new correction’s officer, we met, introduced ourselves, and the rest is history.
When did you know that your partner was the one? Groom: I knew Erika was the one when I dated her and found out she liked the same things I liked. In my heart [I knew] that she was my soul mate. Bride: I knew Jimmy was the one when I noticed that every time I was around him, every time he called me, and every time I saw him I had a smile on my face.
How did he propose? Groom: I planned a date to the casino. As we walked around the casino, I waited for the perfect moment to propose to Erika. Once I found it, I got down on one knee in front of a big crowd and she said yes.
What’s the key to the success of your relationship? Both: The key to our relationship and any relationship is communication, respect, and trust.
Why do you want to be included in JET love? Bride: Jimmy and I share unconditional love and we look forward to growing old together and sharing our memories with our kids and grandkids.
