Betty & Herbert Eaford

Celebrating Their 50th Wedding Anniversary

Home: Birmingham, AL

What do you love most about your mate?

“I love how Betty listens,” says Herbert. “She always makes you feel like you’re the most important person in the world.”

What advice would you give married couples?

“The adjustment period from being single to married isn’t easy,” Herbert shares. “Even on the worst days, remember why you asked your spouse to marry you.”

What legacy do you hope your marriage will leave?

“That love doesn’t run out,” states Betty. “I love that man as much as I did the day I said ‘I do.’”

He knew he was in love when…

The first moment he laid eyes on her. She had the most beautiful smile of any woman he had ever seen.

She knew she was in love when…

Herbert would take her out on dates. He kept telling Betty he was going to marry her every time they went out. He stole her heart.

In 10 years we will…

Still be together and in love.

Before the groom got married, he wishes someone had told him…

That marriage is not always easy, but real love will stand the test of time.

Before the bride got married, she wishes someone had told her…

That a lot of compromise is required for married couples. We won’t always agree on things, but its important to always work together.

Our favorite activity to do together is…

Going out dancing.

Our nicknames for each other are…

”Lollipop” for Betty and “Sweetie” for Herbert. Because one day Herbert was in Betty’s office and randomly asked her, “Hey lollipop, how are you doing?’ It always stuck after that. Betty started calling Herbert“Sweetie” because she thought he was so charming and handsome.

Our favorite place to spend time together is…

At home with our children and grandchildren.

Our song is…

”You Send Me” by Sam Cooke.

Our perfect date night is…

Going out for a nice dinner and dancing afterward.
