Why I want to be a JET Beauty: When I was a little girl, I was often picked on by other kids because of my complexion, hair and eye color. I would always wonder why I looked so different from everyone else in my family, and whenever I’d ask my mother, she always say, “Because you’re my HALO, baby…You’re an angel that GOD let walk the Earth!” My mother always knew how to make me smile and hearing her encouraging words helped me ignore all the bullying. Growing up with this experience has helped mold me and ever since, I make sure to do everything I can to help support all Black women. I’ve learned to love us in all of our “sweet flavors.” I am a proud Black woman, and that is why I want to be a JET Beauty.
