Try not to all faint at once, but just this in from the Directors Guild of America via the Associated Press.
The vast majority of first-time directors for TV series are white men. Yes, White male directors are grabbing up the jobs.

Check it: Of the nearly 500 directors hired for this starter job from 2009 to 2014, men represented 82 percent and women 18 percent of hires. The ethnic breakdown amounted to 87 percent white and 13 percent minority.
Paris Barclay, president of the Directors Guild, told the Associated Press that employing first-time directors is a huge opportunity to diversify the ranks of directors. But the status quo strongly favors white males in this critical role.
