Beyoncé was in her element during the Stevie Wonder All-Star Grammy tribute. The event, which took place following the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, aired Monday night and had everyone in attendance on their feet with music as the motivation.
Those who watched from afar shared their excitement about the production across social media. Whether in attendance physically or via screen, the energy, the magic and the talent was felt.
I watched with a smile across my face, snapping and dancing to the feel-good and uplifting sounds of Stevie Wonder music from ‘Superstition’ to “Ribbon in the Sky” and “Overjoy”– it was a satisfying end to a Monday night.
In the days leading up to the big debut of CBS’s the “Songs in a Key of Life” tribute concert, the network teased us with stage images and behind-the-scenes preparation of a Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran duet. The end result did not disappoint. Sheeran trading verses with Bey during their soulful reggae performance of “Master Blaster” was pitch perfect. The duo then became a trio when Gary Clark Jr. joined them, heightening the energy with his guitar on “Higher Ground.”
Beyoncé opened the concert with, “Fingertips,” Stevie Wonder’s first No.1 hit on Billboard Hot 100.
The show closed with the man himself, Mr. Stevie Wonder, rocking out an eight-song medley of greatest hits, and in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a grand “Happy Birthday.”
