Famliy, loyalty, music and power. These are the elements that make up the upcoming FOX drama, Empire, directed by Lee Daniels.
It’s a grimy world and everyone wants to be apart of a legacy that impact lives. In Daniels’ first television directorial, Empire centers around the Lyons family.
The pops, played by Terrence Howard suffers from ALS and wants one thing to happen before his time on Earth expires, and that’s to leave his imprint on the family music business and pass on the legacy to a deserving candidate.
That, of course, doesn’t come without raged drama. With two sons battling for the spot and their own name in the music industry and an ex-wife, played by Taraji P. Henson, fresh out of jail and ready to claim her share of the record company…the games begin.
Cast includes: Taraji P. Henson (Cookie Lynn), Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyons), Malik Yoba (Vernon Turner), and a talented ensemble inclusive of Gabourey Sidibe, Jussie Smollet, Yazz, Macy Gray, and the daughter of Denzel Washington, Olivia Washington.
