We’ve gone nearly four years without fresh sounds from Ms. Jill Scott.
The Philly native dropped The Light of The Sun back in 2011 and has since been either on mommy duty or busy adding acting credits to her resume with her most recent role “With This Ring.”
But Jill fans, the songstress is stepping back on the music stage with a new project, and she’s just released the first video from it, a soulful, emotional tune called “You Don’t Know.”
Giving us a theatrical night lounge performance, somewhat reminiscent of “Effie’s” breakdown in the film Dreamgirls, “You Don’t Know” is all power vocals, intensity pouring out of everything, from Jill to the the horn section. And featured on the drums, Jill grabs fellow Philly native Questlove for the clip.
