The name Rev. Doctor Lena J. McLin may not ring a lot of bells to the everyday person. Nevertheless, her vocal teachings have contributed to the careers of award-winning artists such as Jennifer Hudson, R. Kelly, Chaka Khan, Da Brat and many more.
An author and honorary recipient of the Human Symphony Foundation’s “Living Legends” award, McLin is also a highly sought after composer with over 400 musical works to her name.
Despite having numerous accolades and accomplishments under her name, sadly, the vocal coach is facing a tough time with finances, causing her to fight for her current residence on Chicago’s South side.
The cooperative she has resided in for years is looking to turn the unit into a condominium, which will increase the property value and ultimately threaten homelessness.
To prevent this from happening, students of McLin have created a GoFund me page encouraging people to help someone who has given so much to others.
